We need either an open RAW format or Adobe's Digital Negative Format (DNG).

AGREED!

Adobe 1998 colour profile is a world standard for CMS.

Why will the industry not adopt Adobe DNG ??

or

adopt a format eg URF (Universal Raw format) and ensure that every single application now/in future will always remain compatible with it.

There needs to be a trade meeting to resolve (not just discuss) these issues.

(Phase One have just released yet another format, Canon have CR2 etc.. - when does this useless madness end??)

Some of the industry IS adopting DNG!

Here is a list of products, including cameras & digital backs, that read and/or write DNG. Some do it a little, some do it fully. (A few others have promised support).

In 5 days time DNG will be one year old. It will be interesting to see what happens next year. One significant thing is that no one has launched an alternative to DNG, and it would now presumably be hard to do so.

Two more cameras are supporting DNG:
Ricoh GR Digital.
Samsung Pro815.

Add these to the Leica DMR back, and the Hasselblad-Imacon H2D camera. And the Ixpress CF (2 models) and CFH backs, which attach to a large range of medium format cameras and view cameras.

It would be useful for OpenRAW to acknowledge these cameras and their makers, as an example to others of the way we want camera makers to go.
